The calmer minds imagined sitting under an open sky and gazing up at a sky illuminated by starlight, while the bolder entities prepared themselves to smite a predator, should the situation present itself. Some imagined group sessions of spinning tall tales around the campfire while roasting marshmallows, and others thought of a lonely silence that was so delicate as to be penetrated by the crackle of steps on dry leaves. Mike wallowed in his tent nervous as to what exactly he wanted from his summer camp. He had never done this before. He was equal parts scared and excited at the promise of new memories ahead. At least, that was the opti

Jimmy had only now fully regrown his teeth after they had fallen out weeks ago. His mother didn’t pay much attention to his complaint. Her mind was wandering elsewhere. This behavior of zoning out was common and so Jimmy didn’t take offense, and continued trying to find just the right angle to bite into the ice cream so that it would be more delightful and least painful. Jimmy and his mother were taking a simple Sunday walk in the park. It was a healthy habit they had developed. Jimmy was reluctant at first, as all children are due to laziness, but eventually he began to learn to enjoy the time away from his iPad. He would look up from his ice cream and observe a meeting of s

The speed with which they had driven down to the establishment didn’t justify the occasion at all. Apparently, the children had scored full marks in their class tests and that was worth celebrating. They were craving a special blend of spices , poultry and gravy or more specifically Indian, something Don Corleone could thankfully afford. The tyres of his car weren’t in the most excellent condition so speeding from home to the restaurant felt like a questionable decision in hindsight, but he understood that it was the essence of administering a pretend rollercoaster through the streets of Chicago that made the journey the most ecstatic experience for the children. But were the expe

Storytime 1

Me and Goldie spent a few weeks writing up articles in the February and March of 2024. Eventually, the stress of applications + writing these weekly got to us and we stopped after four articles but we are proud of them nonetheless. The rules are simple, we would spend a day devising a list of 20 words and we then had to make a story using those twenty words. I don't remember if we were tight on the ordering of the words, but from my observation now, they seem arbitrary, so as long as all words were used in the article, it was fine. We then rated each other's work, and it was nice. Wish it was less burdensome though, but it was fun while it lasted. This is the first and the remaining 3 posts will be in this series. Enjoy! HuMan's thoughts on: Thor: Love and Thunder (Review)

This honestly wasn't as bad as people said it would be. There is however no mistaking it, the MCU level has officially fallen. I used to be an avid follower of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and now honestly it is embarassing to watch what they have to present to the big screen. It takes me back to the time of disappointment when Avengers: Age of Ultron released and everyone was mad it wasn't as good as the other ones. But what is this? It is like they are aiming for every single movie and show to be exactly as bad as Avengers 2.  Looking back Age of Ultron wasn't even that bad, it was just comparatively not up to the mark, especially Captain America: The Winter Soldier releasing the year prior and Civil War the next. Thor 4 aka Thor: Love and Thunder aka God of War but reverse the roles is a horribly forgettable experience. Again, it's not bad, it's just mediocre. Which, in its own definition might make it the worst piece of content I have had in a long time. Wha

HuMan's thoughts on: The Sea Beast

I have previously reviewed How to train your dragon on this blog. The third part to be specific. And in that I said I wasn't particularly fond of it because it felt less like a sequel and more like an add on or spinoff. Well, since then I have come to appreciate the fact that at least HTTYD never became a knockoff of itself the way Ice Age did and lost its initial identity in the process. The sea beast however, does that for HTTYD.  The Sea Beast features most notably the voice of Karl Urban, someone I recognize from the TV show The Boys, which is just fantastic in its own way. Regardless, one can barely tell who Karl Urban plays in this movie as his voice is as generic as possible. He rocks an Australian accent in the Boys and I honestly don't know if that is his real accent but that was what I was expecting. Either way, weak voice acting aside, all of the characters seem to lack polish in their personalities. There is nuance here and there in the plot, but overall they aren&#

HuMan's thoughts on: George Orwell's 1984

Recently, I had a quick fleeting recommendation to peruse George Orwell's 1984. Its increasing relevance in today's time period as social media sites and technology aim to do precisely that which is described in this book contains more forethought than one would expect from a writer during the industrial revolution. So I picked it up, as in, I downloaded an epub file from the internet and employed my trustee Google Books app to create a simulation of the book on my phone and completed it in a mere 5 days. Without giving too much away, the base premise basically describes modern-day China. In that, every single person living is under a regime that is constantly watching them. 1984 has a slight bit of confusion though.  Before it can really embed itself upon me as genuinely being a good book, it first has to decide what kind of book it is. 1984 takes ample time and liberal descriptions to describe each and every contemplation of thought that goes on in our protagonist's mind
